Why Busy Moms Need A 7-Day Self-Care Challenge This Spring
Let’s be honest, friend. Between the endless mountains of laundry, the school drop-offs, the meal prep marathons, and the “Mom, I need this for school tomorrow” last-minute announcements, finding time for yourself probably feels like searching for a matching sock in the dryer—seemingly impossible.
Feeling like you’re running on empty, Mom? Grab your favorite mug, snag our free printable, and discover why blissful 15-minute escapes fit into even the busiest mom schedule.
But here’s what I know for sure: you absolutely can carve out pockets of peace in your busy day. You can reconnect with the woman who exists beyond the title of “Mom.” And spring—this glorious season of renewal—is the perfect time to rediscover her.
Welcome to your 7-Day Spring Renewal Challenge. Just 15 minutes each day. That’s it. Because you can do anything for 15 minutes, even self-care.
[FREE PRINTABLE ALERT!] To help you stay on track with your renewal journey, I’ve created a beautiful Spring Renewal Self-Care Challenge Tracker to download. Please print it out, hang it somewhere you’ll see it daily, and check off each day’s soul-filling activity as you complete it. Grab your free tracker at the end of this post!
Day 1: Morning Dew Moments#
When was the last time you felt morning dew between your toes? Today’s challenge is deliciously simple: step outside barefoot with your morning coffee/tea before the chaos begins. Feel the cool, dewy grass beneath your feet. Listen to the symphony of birdsong welcoming the day. Breathe deeply—can you smell the earthy freshness that only spring mornings offer?
Stand there for just five minutes. Let the gentle morning sun set in on your face. This isn’t wasted time; this is soul restoration. The emails, lunches, and permission slips will all still be there in five minutes. But you’ll face them with renewed clarity.
For your remaining ten minutes, jot down three things you’re looking forward to this spring. Not for your kids, not for your family—for you. Tuck this list somewhere only you know about. It’s your secret springtime promise to yourself.

Day 2: Blossom Bath Ritual#
Tonight, after the little ones are tucked in, prepare for your spring renewal ritual—either a bath or a shower sanctuary.
For Bath Lovers: Draw a proper, indulgent soak—not the rushed bath where you’re mentally composing tomorrow’s to-do list. Add a handful of Epsom salts and a few drops of lavender or jasmine essential oil. The scent will transport you instantly to a flourishing spring garden. Light a candle—yes, use the “good” ones you’ve saved for guests.
As you slide into the water’s warm embrace, imagine winter’s tension melting away from your shoulders, back, and mind. Feel the warmth seeping into your tired muscles, like sunshine coaxing flowers to bloom.

For Shower Devotees: Transform your shower into a spa-like sanctuary by placing a few drops of eucalyptus or sweet orange essential oil on the shower floor (away from where you stand). Shower bath bombs are also a fantastic self-care addition to your shower! As the warm water hits, it releases an aromatic steam that fills your shower with fresh springtime.
Swap your everyday products for something special—perhaps that luxurious body wash you’ve been saving. Feel the warm water cascading over your shoulders, washing away tension. Take slow, deep breaths of the fragrant steam. For once, don’t rush—let the water become a flowing meditation.
Whichever you choose, make these fifteen precious minutes all about you. There are no demands, no needs to meet except your own. You’ll earn bonus points if you leave your phone in another room. You’ll also earn double bonus points if you bring a decadent piece of chocolate to savor slowly during your renewal ritual.
Day 3: Outdoor Color Therapy#
Grab your shoes and head outside for a walking meditation with a twist. Your mission: find five different colors of spring: the vibrant yellow of forsythia bushes, the delicate pink of cherry blossoms, and the hopeful green of new leaves unfurling.
As you walk, you really see these colors. Let them fill your vision for a moment. Studies show that color can profoundly affect our mood—green brings balance, blue creates calm, and yellow sparks joy.
Take photos if you’d like, but absorb these colors into your being. Let them repaint the corners of your mind that winter has left gray. When you return home, notice if your step feels lighter and your thoughts clearer.
This isn’t just a walk—it’s chromotherapy for your winter-weary soul.
Day 4: Seed and Deed#
Today’s challenge has two parts: planting and planning.
First, plant something. Anything. A pot of cheerful pansies, a few herbs for your kitchen windowsill, even a single seed in a small cup. (The Dollar Tree has lots of garden items!) Creating new life and pushing your fingers into cool soil connects you to the age-old rhythm of spring renewal.
Then, write down one small, purposeful act of self-kindness you’ll “plant” in your routine moving forward. Perhaps it’s five minutes of morning stretching. Maybe it’s a weekly phone date with your best friend. Or possibly it’s permission to say “no” more often.
Like the seed you planted, this small commitment will grow with consistent nurturing. Water your seed. Water your commitment to yourself, too.

Day 5: Spring Clean Your Mind#
Today, we’re not cleaning closets or sorting toys—we’re decluttering something far more important: your mental space!
If weather permits, find a comfortable spot outdoors. Feel the springtime breeze against your skin as you close your eyes and take three deep, cleansing breaths. Now, envision your mind as a room that’s collected winter’s dust and cobwebs.
For the next 15 minutes, sweep away unhelpful thoughts. That argument replay? Sweep it out. The nagging guilt about not being “enough”? Sweep it away. The mental load of everyone else’s needs? Gently set it down.
In their place, open the windows of your mind to let in fresh spring air. What thoughts serve you better? What beliefs make you stronger? Fill your mental space with these instead.
This isn’t one-and-done—mental decluttering is an ongoing practice. But today, you’ve created space for new growth.
Day 6: Sensory Spring Feast#
Today’s challenge celebrates spring’s flavors in a ritual just for you. Create a small plate of seasonal delights: perhaps strawberries at the peak of juicy perfection, tender spring greens, a slice of lemon-infused anything.
Find a quiet spot—maybe that sunny corner of your porch or the kitchen table while the house is momentarily still. Now, eat as if this is the first time you’ve experienced these flavors.
Feel the cool crispness of greens against your tongue. Notice how the strawberry’s sweetness bursts across your taste buds. Inhale the bright scent of lemon before you take a bite.
When was the last time you truly tasted your food without simultaneously wiping spills, answering questions, or scrolling through your phone? This mindful eating practice reconnects you with the simple pleasure of nourishment—something mothers often forget in their rush to feed everyone else.
Day 7: Dawn Canvas#
For your final challenge, set your alarm just 15 minutes earlier than usual. I know—I can hear your groans through the screen. But trust me on this one.
Slip outside with your favorite warm drink while the world is still quiet. Find a comfortable spot where you can see the sky. Now, watch as dawn paints her masterpiece across the canvas of morning.
The shifting colors, the gradually strengthening light, the world slowly awakening—a daily miracle we rarely witness in our busy lives. Let this dawn washing become a metaphor for your self-care renewal. Every day offers a fresh start, new colors, and another chance.
As you witness this beginning, set an intention for how you’ll carry your renewed self forward. This challenge may be ending, but your springtime revival is just beginning.

Self-Care Renewal, Your Way#
Completing this week-long self-care journey isn’t about perfection. Maybe you missed a day or squeezed some self-care activities into 10 minutes instead of 15. That’s not just okay—it’s real life!
Self-care is essential, and you’ve planted the seeds of self-care into soil that may have been neglected for too long. You’ve remembered that the woman who existed before “mom” still lives within you, needs nurturing, and deserves to bloom through self-care.
As spring unfurls its magic all around us, let it remind you of an essential truth: self-care renewal isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Just as the earth needs spring after winter’s long rest, you need these moments of self-care restoration to be the vibrant, loving force your family relies on.
What matters is that you’ve planted the seeds of self-care into soil that may have been neglected for too long. You’ve remembered that the woman who existed before “mom” still lives within you, needs nurturing, and deserves to bloom.
